The Vietnam Shootout is a multi-faceted shooting competition in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the Vietnam war. They are timed shooting events in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages and scenarios.

Copper Bullet Lodge 1128 County Road 713, Buna Texas.
You can camp out the night before and after the event at Copper Bullet Lodge. It is $20 dollars per day. There are flush toilets but no showers (embrace the suck). The night before the event we will be screening the film The Platoon on a big screen. After the event we will have a cookout, fellowship and alcoholic beverages BYOB. If you're drinking alcoholic beverages after the event your firearm will be put away and no guns will be handled!

Everything in terms of firearms is provided, except ammo. If you want to bring, your own firearms that's fine with us. Try to bring and dress in gear as historically authentic as possible. Sign Up!
A timed rifle competition in which shooters will move down a wooded trail engaging targets at various distances.
Requirements: M14/M1A or M16/AR15 Style rifle with fixed A1/A2 sights and Mil-Spec trigger.
20 round magazines. Magazines can only be drawn from M1956 ammo pouch, Vietnam era canteen pouch, or Type 56 Chest Rig.
If all you can find is an AR15 style rifle with a flat top upper that's fine, as long as it has the carry handle A2 sight attached. If all you can find is polymer 20 round mags that's fine.
A timed handgun competition in which shooters engage targets at close range.
Requirements: A retro 1911 in 45 ACP with the old-style iron sights or Browning Hi-Power/ Springfield Armory SA-35 with the retro style iron sights. 3 magazines. Magazines must be drawn from mag holders with button or snap covers.
Skeet shooting competition.
Requirements: Model 1897 12ga or replica, Winchester Model 12/ 1200, Ithaca Model 37, Stevens Model 77 or a Remington 870
12 ga Birdshot only
A competition on who's wearing the most historically accurate gear and uniform.
1. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded
2. Keep the firearm pointed in the safest possible direction.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
4. Know your target, its surroundings and beyond.
5. Know how to properly operate your firearm.
6. Eye and Ear protection are required.
To those who returned with no one to greet them.

To those who returned but are still haunted by the nightmares of war.
To those that suffer from agent orange exposure and are still fighting the last battle.
To those who fought battles in the jungles of Vietnam and here at home.
